What you’ll find on Cathedral Square

The market sits in the middle of the old town, between the cathedral, the arcades and the cafés. It is run as a “Green Event”, which means a focus on regional products, short transport routes, waste management and sustainable mobility.

The stalls sell local crafts and specialities. At the fire point, South Tyrolean dishes are cooked over an open fire, with free tastings. Around the market there is a varied Advent programme, including:

  • Music: South Tyrolean bands, ensembles and choirs at the market and in the old town
  • Rorate mass in Brixen Cathedral: daily at 6:30 am during Advent
  • Carillon: the White Tower plays every day when the market opens
  • Guided tours: themed tours of the Hofburg and Neustift Abbey
  • Sunday shopping: 29 November and 6, 8, 13 and 20 December
  • Via Illuminativa: an art trail through the old town, 4 December 2026 to 31 January 2027

The full calendar is in the Brixen Tourism programme.

The Light & Music Show at the Hofburg

In the evening the Hofburg facade turns into a screen. “Oops 2 – A Light and Music Show for UNICEF” tells a story through projections and music by Giorgio Moroder. Key details for 2026/27:
